History
The New York Police Department's Asian Jade Society was established in 1980 by ten law enforcement officers, who together had a vision. They envisioned of a diverse police department who would need an organization to champion the cause for Asian law enforcement personnel. They are the fore fathers of our Society and forever the corner stone of our history.
They are:
- Paul Chu, First President for the Society
- Eugene Lee, Past president
- Lloyd Hutchinson, Past President
- Tommy Ong, Past President
- Barry Eng
- Joe Chan
- Richard Lee
- Ernie Eng
- Robert Lum
- Dewey Fong
Through the years, the Society increased in membership. Some of these members belonged to other Police Departments. They in turn became forefathers of their Asian Organizations.
Members such as :
- Robert May - NY/NJ Port Authority
- Bruce May - The NYC Housing Police Department Asian Jade Society
These are some of the Organizations that were born from the original Asian Jade Society:
- NYC Corrections Asian Jade Society
- NYC Transit Police Department Asian Jade Society
- The NYC Housing Police Department Asian Jade Society
- NY/NJ Port Authority Police Department Asian Jade Society
- Nassau County Police Department Asian Jade Society
- Society of Federal Asian Officers.
To this end was born the Supreme Council of Asian Law Enforcement (SCALE). This governing body is comprised of the presidents of the other Asian Organizations to communicate and foster positive working relationship in the local Asian Law Enforcement Community.
